In 2010 My Brother Ian and I decided to climb Kilimanjaro, the highest mountain in Africa, with the MNDA. We did this in support and honour of our sister, Jacqui, who had been diagnosed with the disease. We didn't know what else to do, and this was our way of expressing the love we felt for her and at the same time, raise some much needed funds to combat this terrible disease. At the darkest points of the walk, and when we were tired or cold (or both!), she was our inspiration and drove us on the Summit, which we attained at 7:30 am on the 23rd October. We couldn't stop was happening to Jacqui, and we lost her in October this year, but if we have brought an end to this disease in any way closer there could be no more fitting memorial to her courage and efforts.
