The chapters would not be complete without saying something about Jacqui as an MND patient. Despite the progressive disability of the disease, Jacqui was still Jacqui and her smile and personality still shone through. Unable to work, walk or sing, she used the internet to do research into the disease and drug trials and to fund raise for MNDA.
With the carers, nurses and other patients at the hospice day centre, she would whizz around in her chair, chatting and making cheeky comments using her iPad.
I saw a message she'd sent to someone who'd asked how she was coping. "I'm a dribbling quadraplegic, but still smiling" she said in reply.
